Discovering Hope and Inspiration in Your Mid-Life Crisis

An article written by Sadie Cohen:

A mid-life crisis can feel like you're stuck in the doldrums. The good news is that there is hope! You can make your mid-life crisis a time of growth and inspiration by drawing closer to God and making healthy lifestyle changes. Today, Exodus Internet Church shares some practical tips for doing just that.

Leaning Into God

Your spiritual health is crucial, and you don’t want to lose your way as you deal with the challenges of your mid-life crisis. Remember Apostle Paul’s exhortation in his letter to the Romans:

“And not only that, but we also boast in our afflictions because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans 5:3 & 4, CSB).

Resolve to spend time reading God’s Word and praying during this season. It can be easy to forget about your faith when life gets tough, but turning to God will give you the strength you need to get through anything, and your character will be forged in the process.

Make a habit of reading the Bible every day and taking time to pray, even if it's just for a few minutes. You'll be amazed at how this simple act can change your outlook on life!

Quitting Your Unfulfilling or Overwhelming Job

If your job is causing you stress or simply isn't fulfilling, ask yourself if you need a change. It can be scary to quit your job, but sometimes it's necessary for finding joy and living in your purpose. You can also give yourself an edge over the competition by using professional quality resume templates to really highlight your hard-won skills!

Starting a Business Out of Your Passion

Have you always dreamed of starting your own business? Why not do it now? Figure out what business you want to start and what steps you need to take to make it happen. Don't let anything hold you back; if you don’t go after your dreams now, then when will you?

Limiting Liability is a Logical Step

We’re called to be good stewards of our blessings. If you're starting a new business, one of the first things you should consider doing is form an LLC (limited liability company). This will protect your personal assets if something happens with the business down the road.

You can easily form an LLC online with a little help from an online formation service that’s already familiar with the regulations regarding LLCs in New York. Once you've taken care of the legalities, you can focus on running your business and achieving your goals!

Moving To a New Area

Sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes to find new hope and inspiration. If you're feeling trapped where you are, why not move to a new area? This doesn't have to be permanent—you can always move back if it doesn't work out. But giving yourself some time in a new place may be just what you need to jumpstart your creativity and get out of your funk.

Finding a rental home will allow you to stay as long or as short as you'd like without making any long-term commitments. You can use listing sites to narrow your rental search by layout, amenities, and price to find a suitable home quickly. And there are plenty of options out there, as well, including over 160 in Albany alone!

Conclusion

A mid-life crisis doesn't have to mean the end of the world. It can actually be a chance for growth and transformation. If you're stuck in a rut, try cultivating your relationship with God, finding a new job, starting a business, moving somewhere else, and implementing the other tips above. Whatever you choose to do in this season, remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel – and we know who that light is!

No matter where you live, the doors to Exodus Internet Church are always open! Let us know if you have any questions.
